400 hundred years in the making, no less! Cara's singing possibly one of the worlds most famous poems, "Shall I Compare Thee To A Summers Day" (Sonnet 18), on a new album featuring 11 of Shakespeare's Sonnets that have been set to music in a groundbreaking new project set to be released on April 23rd (Shakespeare's birthday) and as part of the Cultural Olympiad 2012.

In tribute to Shakespeare's time, all the instruments used on the album are authentic instruments from early 17th century. These include the Lirone, Theorbo, Viol, Cornett, Sackbut, Curtal, Shawm, Lute, Harpsichord, Virginals, Dulcimer and early Trumpet. However, all the musical arrangements are of a very contemporary nature and are really quite breathtaking. Cara and Sam were thrilled to have been invited to record a brand new song to form part of a new spectacular show to mark the 20th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris in April 2012.

They went to the legendary Abbey Road Studios back in January to record the song with a 96 piece orchestra and to listen to the rest of the music being recorded for the show. Joel McNeely, who composed the music for Tinkerbell 3, wrote the beautiful new song and conducted the orchestral sessions.

The park will stay open later for longer throughout the year with Extended Hours, in preparation for the main event of the whole year: Disney Dreams! — a magical, immersive new nighttime spectacular show. This world premiere nighttime show will feature state-of-the-art HD projections, fountains, fire, lasers, pyrotechnics and numerous other special effects to completely immerse guests in a magical tale that takes you from the Second Star to the Right through some of the greatest Disney stories ever told! • Re-Release Marks 10th Anniversary of Cara's Debut Album ............ posted: 30.10.11

July 2011 saw the 10th anniversary of the original release of Cara's debut solo album "CARA DILLON". For any of you who've only switched on to Cara's music in the last few years and have only heard her more recent albums, it was this record that launched her (quite rightly) to the very top of the folk and acoustic scene and gained her some extremely high profile fans and huge critical acclaim.

The album was nominated for 4 BBC Radio Folk Awards and went on to win 2 of them, it won the prestigious Hotpress Magazine award for "Best Roots Act" and led to Cara and Sam touring all over the world winning a legion of fans both near and far. The album includes their arrangement of "Black Is The Colour" which has gone on to be covered by mainstream artists the world over and spawned a top ten dance remix.

To mark the occassion Cara and Sam have decided to re-release the album on Monday the 24th October in Digipack format (although they stress that's the only thing that's changed). It is an absolute "must have" for any fan of Cara's music and we're sure that many of you are already on your 2nd or even 3rd copy after overplaying the originals. For many of us it brings back some very happy memories of when we "discovered" Cara for the first time...Visit Cara's official Online Store to purchase a copy.

  • The Guardian - Live Review ............ posted: 09.03.11

Here's a couple of lines taken from The Guardian's glowing 4 star review of Cara's wonderful concert in The Queen Elizabeth Hall in March.

"...her voice is a thing of wonder: a warm yet precise tool that locks into the expansive humanity at the heart of these ancient songs. On Johnny, Lovely Johnny and Jimmy Mó Mhíle Stór, she superbly evokes the hollow ache of unrequited love, while her gentle reworking of the old standard P Is for Paddy is captivating... these songs hang in the ether, and Dillon's best moment comes when she stands alone on stage to croon the haunting a capella air Fil, Fil A Run Ó. In taking a step back to her roots, Dillon has made a creative great leap forward."
